Oral and maxillofacial surgeons have long been cognizant of facial form. Changing the facial skeleton has always been regarded as one of the main focuses of our profession. Although often seen as the orthopedic (bony) surgeon of the facial region, it was a natural progression that cosmetic soft tissue (skin, fat and muscle) surgery may also become part of the scope of practice of most oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
In other words, as we expand our offerings, scar revision, dermabrasion, and chemical peels will soon be part of the facial aesthetic enhancements available through CTMAX. Other cosmetic procedures we routinely perform include repositioning of the jaws, adding or decreasing the size of the chin and/or augmenting the cheek bones.
If CTMAX determines that more invasive cosmetic surgery, such as face lifts, nose jobs, eye lid surgery, and liposuction are required to treat your condition and to maximize your outcome, we will refer you to the best specialist in our area to get that done.
What Is A Face Lift (rhytidectomy)?
As you age, your face changes. What were once youthful features begin to lose definition. A facelift can restore your youthful appearance to look like a naturally younger version of you. The CTMAX doctor’s experience, knowledge and artistic judgement will be customized to help you achieve your own natural, beautiful result. A facelift may help reposition sagging tissues, smooth creases, define a jawline or neck that has been hidden by sagging jowls, and smooth sagging neck skin. Nothing looks pulled, tight or operated. Rather, you look like a younger, restored beautiful version of you.
What is a facelift?
A facelift restores a more youthful facial appearance to the mid and lower face, including the neck. Facelift improves heavy facial folds, excess sagging skin and restores youthful facial contours with a result that usually offers a 10-year age improvement.
What Is A Nose Job (rhinoplasty)?
Rhinoplasty repositions the nose to improve its appearance, form and function. The procedure can improve the proportions and angles of the nasal bridge, nasal tip and nostrils making the nose more symmetric and proportionate to the face. Improved breathing may also be required and enhanced.
Rhinoplasty is one of the most common facial plastic surgery procedures used to achieve facial harmony, and when approached with a personalized vision and expert techniques, rhinoplasty offers highly satisfying and consistent results. Whether you are unhappy with the proportion, angle, tip or other specific features of your nose, or you have experienced changes due to injury, nasal surgery can address what you wish to improve and allow you to present a naturally beautiful, proportionate face.
CTMAX specializes in facial surgery, including rhinoplasty. Trust their experience, expertise and artistic judgement to help you restore or re-create a nose that is attractive, proportionate and in harmony with your other facial features.
What Is Eyelid Surgery? (blepharoplasty)
Besides being the “windows to the soul”, the eyes are the focal point of your face, where you connect visually with others. Aging or heredity can result in a tired, dreary appearance by puffiness, sagging and bags around the eyes. Eyelid surgery is a highly individualized procedure to refine the contour of your upper eyelids, to smooth hollows, bags or puffiness of the lower eyelid. For some, eyelid surgery may improve sad, or downturned eyes.
Eyelid surgery restores or sculpts a youthful contour to the upper eyelid and can improve bags, puffiness and sagging skin of the lower eyelid.
What Are Some of the Other Cosmetic Procedures?
Weight loss, aging or heredity can contribute to a neck that is sagging, or bulges beneath your chin. Often performed in conjunction with a facelift, a necklift includes laser liposuction to reduce the fat pocket that accumulates under then chin. As a result of neck lift surgery, a younger, lighter, more defined appearance evolves that enhances not only the neck but also complements the face by reducing a double chin and smoothing a neck that has lost its youthful appearance.
A genioplasty (chin job) is a procedure in which the projection or length of the chin is changed. This surgery is done through the mouth to avoid any noticeable scars. Malar augmentation (cheek bone surgery) is also done through the mouth and can give added height and fullness to the cheeks.
Opposite of Liposuction are a variety of ‘Injectable’ Aesthetic Enhancement options available. These include Botox® and dermal fillers such as Juvaderm®, Restylane®, and Radiesse®. You may find more information on these in our “Aesthetic Facial Enhancements” section.
Orthognathic Surgery (jaw surgery) is usually performed for functional reasons (i.e. inability to chew or speak properly, TMJ pain, severe malocclusion etc.) but can also have a cosmetic impact. This type of surgery moves the upper and/or lower jaw to a more desirable location (details about orthognathic surgery can be found by visiting our procedures section on orthognathic surgery in the main CTMAX site).
