The doctors who comprise “CTMAX”, enjoy long lived reputations for their experience and surgical ability, dedication to quality patient care and sensitivity to the individual.

Three of our doctors have academic teaching appointments, and one has served on the Advisory Committee of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for a full term of six years.

Three of our doctors are certified by that same board. The practice itself is renown throughout New England for its experience and expertise in the surgical treatment of developmental dentofacial deformities and temporomandibular joint disease (TMJ/TMD).

Ian C. Tingey, D.D.S.

Dr. Ian TingeyWith an impressive career spanning over 30 years, Dr. Ian C. Tingey is celebrated as a leading oral and maxillofacial surgeon, renowned for his exceptional blend of surgical skill and genuine compassion. As a managing partner at Connecticut Maxillofacial Surgeons (CTMAX) and the esteemed Chairman of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Saint Francis Hospital, Dr. Tingey embodies quiet confidence and clinical precision, complemented by a profound sense of purpose in his practice.

Originally hailing from Windsor, Ontario, Dr. Tingey completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree at the University of Western Ontario. His commitment to excellence continued as he undertook his surgical residency at the prestigious University of Connecticut. Not one to forget his roots, he remains intricately involved with the residency program, dedicating time to mentor aspiring oral surgery residents. His efforts in teaching not only focus on clinical techniques but also emphasize the importance of empathy and patient-centered care—critical values for the next generation of surgeons.

Dr. Tingey’s clinical expertise spans a variety of intricate procedures, including the removal of wisdom teeth, surgical placement of dental implants, jaw realignment through orthognathic surgery, and the management of facial trauma—all while also specializing in advanced bone grafting techniques. Throughout his extensive career, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to staying abreast of the latest advancements in oral and maxillofacial surgery, utilizing state-of-the-art technology to ensure the highest standard of care.

Brett A. Weyman D.D.S. M.D.

Dr. Brett A. Weyman is a dedicated oral and maxillofacial surgeon with dual degrees, recognized for his careful surgical techniques and commitment to patient care. Working alongside his colleagues at Connecticut Maxillofacial Surgeons (CTMAX), he aims to provide a wide range of oral and facial surgical services in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Dr. Weyman’s academic background reflects his commitment to his field. He completed his undergraduate studies in biology at Villanova University and then earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Maryland. Following this, he obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He also participated in an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at UConn, where he gained experience in both hospital and outpatient settings.

With a broad clinical expertise, Dr. Weyman performs various procedures, from wisdom tooth extractions to dental implant placements and bone grafting, always prioritizing patient comfort. He is knowledgeable in corrective jaw surgery to improve bite alignment and airway function, as well as pediatric oral surgery. He works diligently on facial trauma reconstruction, addressing both minor and complex cases.

Known for his calm demeanor and effective communication, Dr. Weyman values building trust with his patients. He takes the time to listen to their concerns and ensures they feel informed and supported throughout their treatment.

Nicholas Saggese D.M.D.

Dr. Nicholas SaggeseDr. Nicholas Saggese is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and proud Connecticut native who brings dedication, compassion, and a steady calm to every patient he treats. His interest in the specialty began at just 14 years old, when shadowing a neighbor revealed the unique blend of dentistry, medicine, and surgery that defines the field.

After earning his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Saggese completed a rigorous four-year residency at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, where he served as Chief Resident. There, he trained in full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery with an exceptionally heavy trauma focus, gaining extensive experience in complex facial reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, pathology, implants, and anesthesia. His residency work also earned recognition at Brookdale’s Annual Research Symposium for his study on orbit reconstruction using intraoperative navigation.

At CT Maxillofacial Surgeons LLC, Dr. Saggese is part of a collaborative team of highly trained surgeons providing comprehensive oral and maxillofacial care. His clinical focus includes wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, bone grafting, TMJ disorders, pathology, and facial trauma. Alongside his colleagues, he is dedicated to delivering advanced, patient-centered treatment supported by the practice’s long-standing reputation for excellence.
Dr. Saggese has authored several peer-reviewed publications on topics ranging from anesthesia and trauma to orthognathic anomalies and innovative patient care solutions. He remains active in teaching UConn OMFS residents and volunteers at the annual Connecticut Mission of Mercy, helping provide free dental care to underserved communities.

Passionate about the future of the specialty, he is especially interested in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, 3D surgical modeling, navigation systems, and next-generation implant design—innovations that promise safer, more precise, and more predictable outcomes for patients.

Outside the operating room, Dr. Saggese recharges through fitness, cooking, golf, and travel. Patients and colleagues alike value not only his clinical skill, but also his approachable, down-to-earth style and his commitment to making every patient feel confident and cared for.

His clinical expertise spans the full scope of oral and facial surgery — including wisdom tooth removal, dental implants, jaw surgery, facial trauma, pathology, and complex reconstructive procedures. Known for his meticulous technique and steady presence in the operating room, he treats every case with care, clarity, and intention.
